Old TV Show? Current TV Show? Old movies you want a sequel for? You can try to buy the rights here. RULES:1.) There cannot currently be a movie in release or coming out for release for what you want. 2.) If you are wishing to re-create, or add on to an already existing franchise, no movie from that franchise could have made over $200,000,000 in the box office, with and without inflation. 3.) We are limiting it to 4 released adaptations per quarter (Q1 - January - March, Q2 - April - June, Q3 - July - September, Q4 - October - December). The rest must be original, remember part of the box office is usually based on originality. - But! You can have 4 books also per quarter, as many movies are book adaptations.
4.) The admin reserve the right to deny giving the rights to a company if they see that they are abusing the rights (applying for way too many adaptations, or only applying for sure-fire hits -- be a little risky!) 5.) DO NOT create the movies until I tell you on this thread that you have permission. 6.) If no production is seen on the film in a month, the rights are terminated and back up for grabs.

Can I buy the rights to a Family Guy movie (because so far nothing is confirmed in real life) for $6,000,000.

Sine it's kind of already in production at Catamount, could I acquire the rights to the Speed Racer (1967) cartoon...no IMDb listing for a Speed Racer film exists and I would like to complete this project ASAP.
Also, I don't know if you want to include it, but I also have a film entitled River City Ransom based on the old Nintendo video game coming soon. Would that be in a separate thread or can I just buy that here too?

So what's the deal with this? Do we have to say a franchise or whatnot that we would like the rights to and than offer a certain amount of money to get it and hope no one places a higher bid? Or do we just list a franchise that we might want and then get it?

For now I think we're going to do it first come first serve, until we get larger. (Because to get this game entirely full we'll have 20 companies).

So do we claim rights now? Or would it be more along the lines of...whoever FINISHES the movie first gets the rights to that franchise.
Otherwise, I could list Star Wars and lay claim over that...which is HUGE...and I could just start listing a bunch more and claim all the "big ones." Just a thought...

You're coming up with good points, but you couldn't have Star Wars, because its re-releasing in 3-D in a few years and has 2 TV Series coming out...
I'm gonna rethink all of this...

Why not charge a nominal fee (half a mil. or so) for each property, but also have the member show some signs of development, so its not just snatched up.

OK, I'm likin the ideas. I'll try to figure something out. Thanks for actually suggesting things instead of just leaving like some members sometimes do at other places...this site is brand new, its gonna have to be smoothed out. This weekend not only starts the competition, it also lets us know if this site works, or if we need to adjust things.
Later.

Is it safe to assume that if we end up coming out with our own "franchise" series (aka: Desire Pictures make a movie called "Space Walk" and it's a huge hit and makes like $300 million), would Desire Pictures be the only company allowed to make "Space Walk 2" or any sequels/prequels related to that franchise?

I'd like the rights to Stephen King's #1 Bestseller "The Eyes of the Dragon."
