Looking @ #2 for myself this weekend. No bad feelings toward EOTD, seeing it was obvious it would take #1.

Good for all new films. But Skin Deep is no longer in release. John Donne folded.

As I was away over the last few days I had not realized that John Donne had closed. Therefore, I will remove "Skin Deep" from the results tomorrow and delete it from the records.

There was no shocker this weekend when Desire Pictures $120-million budgeted The Eyes of the Dragon took the #1 spot this weekend. Roaring into 3,903 theatres, the film earned $70.55 million this weekend, easily becoming the most successful weekend for a film in the game thus far. The only question right now is whether or not the film will follow traditional blockbuster trends and dip well over 50% next weekend, or if it will hold on for some decent legs.
Performing above most expectations was Genious Pictures' Love Lost, which opened at #2 with $31.70 million. Opening on Wednesday, the film also opened with an unexpectedly high $8.20 million and held on well for most of the weekend. However, it's steep 41% drop from Saturday to Sunday may not bode well for its future.
Another strong debut came from Coda Productions with their R-rated comedy release Tourists. Earning an impressive $25.33 million over the 3-day weekend, it managed to pull ahead of its comedy-competition The Family Guy Movie.
Suffering a drop of only 39%, The Family Guy Movie fell from the top spot to 4th with another $23.13 million added to its total. After two successful weekends, the Charles Production animated comedy has earned $83.11 million to date. It should join The Eyes of the Dragon in becoming one of the first $100 million films of the game.
The Undertaker took 5th after dipping 47% to earn an additional $15.98 million. The film could cross over the $100 million mark, depending on how the next few weekends hold up. Star Films has already announced a sequel, which is due out next year, according to a press release last week.
