What are your predictions for this week's openers? I'm hoping this weekend will finally pick up at the box office. Here's the openers: Gridiron Gang The Black Dahlia Everyone's Hero The Last KissAnd competition: The Covenant's 2nd Weekend (Ha...competition. ) Hollywoodland's 2nd Weekend

Well, without a doubt, the Rock is going to take the number one spot this weekend...He's got the most teen friendly film in the set, as well as the most sports-related, and the most urban of the weekend...and he's the Rock, who doesn't open great, but does show decent numbers. With a decent 3200 theater count, this one should clear $20M.
The next big one is only big because it is in 2700 theaters...Everyone's Hero is not going to set the numbers on fire, but it will have a decent opening, since it is the only kids movie out there, something that has been devoid in the box office the last couple of weeks...It should pull in a decent though not spectacular $11M.
The Black Dahlia had the makings of a big hit, but with the lackluster opening of Hollywoodland as well as the mixed reviews it has been getting, this one is not as potent...you can't depend on Josh Hartnett to bring the audiences in, especially since this is geared for adults (see Lucky Number Slevin). Thus, I see a $9M dollar opening in its future...
Um, and then there is Last Kiss. I like Zach Braff, I do...however, this movie seems to leave a bad taste in my mouth when I see the trailer...not to mention, huge critical drubbing, small theater count of around 1200 and poor marketing, and you've got a poor $3M start.
The Covenant should drop a bit to around $4.5M and Hollywoodland will see a significant drop as well with the Black Dahlia giving competition to $3.5M...
1. Gridiron Gang - $20.5M 2. Everyone's Hero - $11M 3. The Black Dahlia - $8.8M 4. The Convenant - $4.4M 5. Hollywoodland - $3.5M 6. The Illusionist - $3.4M 7. Little Miss Sunshine - $3.2M 8. Invincible - $3.1M 9. The Last Kiss - $2.9M 10. Crank - $2.8M

Everyone's Hero is one of the only kid films out right now...and Hollywoodland, Illusionist, and Little Miss Sunshine are AMAZING! Plus, I'm seeing The Last Kiss this weekend, so, with that said...
1 Gridiron Gang-$18.5 (looks too much like Longest Yard) 2 The Black Dahlia-$12.0 3 Everyone's Hero-$8.2 4 The Covenant-$7.0 5 Invincible-$6.5 6 Hollywoodland-$5.7 7 The Last Kiss-$5.0 8 The Illusionist-$4.3 9 Crank-$4.0 10 Little Miss Sunshine-$3.2

Your predictions seem fairly good except The Covenant and Hollywoodland I'm really doubting Covenant will only have a 10% drop, and Hollywoodland have a raise with only three theatres.
I'll post my predics later.

Haha. Good point. I MIGHT switch Black Dahlia and Hollywoodland later, as all my friends said they were going to see it this weekend.
