Hey, once again I'm having Internet problems (it's been on and off for the last few days since it first went out). Please note that these numbers are not 100% accurate. I'm posting the approximate numbers that I can remember, but am not using my computer to make this post and therefore can't post the accurate Friday numbers. I guess they are the game's first set of "estimates." I'll try to full update tomorrow.
[glow=red,2,300]FRIDAY - SATURDAY - SUNDAY[/glow] 1) Battle at Buck Creek - $4.03 - $5.49 - $3.81 2) Lady Death - $2.83 - $3.65 - $2.55 3) Where's Waldo - $2.31 - $3.04 - $2.16 4) Beach Boys - $1.76 - $2.40 - $1.71 5) Green Arrow: Constant Vigilante - $1.84 - $2.27 - $1.70 6) Showstopper - $1.79 - $2.31 - $1.62 7) Time of Change - $1.05 - $1.35 - $0.98
[glow=red,2,300]WEEKEND TOTALS TOP 12[/glow] 1) MechAssault - $18.36 2) Battle at Buck Creek - $13.33 3) Grapes of Wrath - $9.45 4) Lady Death - $9.03 5) Redstar - $7.70 6) Where's Waldo? - $7.51 7) Beach Boys - $5.87 8) Green Arrow: Constant Vigilante - $5.81 9) Showstopper - $5.72 10) Prophet - $3.52 11) Time of Change - $3.38 12) The Eyes of the Dragon - $2.95

It was a harsh weekend for every film in release for the second weekend in a row. Summer numbers tend to relax throughout the month of August, but with such a strong set of films coming out late into the month, it seems that the box office is falling hard as it returns to normality.
Once again, MechAssault held on to the top spot, without any real competition challenging its weekend gross. The Charles Productions’ blockbuster garnered another $18.4 million over the weekend, bringing its total to $164.6 million. Although it crossed the $150 million mark in the same number of days (15) as The Eyes of the Dragon, it continues to run slightly behind the summer’s first blockbuster. With the summer ending, it might be difficult for MechAssault to catch up to Dragon.
Opening in second was Victoria’s Battle at Buck Creek. The PG-13 western hauled in $13.3 million the open on top of the new openers, despite being played in “only” 2,058 theatres.
Falling steady in third place was Night Turtle’s book adaptation of Grapes of Wrath with $9.45 million. To date it remains Night Turtle Film’s only substantial money-maker and is looking to join the $100 million club if the box office doesn’t continue to fall so dramatically.
Exit Productions grabbed the fourth position with their R-rated adult horror Lady Death. The film grossed a decent $9 million this weekend, but will likely struggle to earn back it’s $23 million budget.
Redstar fell to fifth this weekend, earning another $7.7 million in the process. The film also joined the $150 million club and has created a nice profit for Coda Productions, who has already announced plans for an upcoming sequel that will kick off the Summer 2007 season.
Meanwhile, Night Turtle Film’s took their second big hit in the row when their $45 million budgeted Where’s Waldo? only managed $7.5 million over the weekend. Following closely on the heals of Green Arrow: Constant Vigilante, the company will certainly be disappointed with the performance of their latest projects. However, with a strong performance from Grapes of Wrath and a decent return for San Francisco Midnight, the company should find itself only taking a small loss in the big picture.
Of last week’s holdovers, Beach Boys continued to reign on top, but dropped the hardest ($53%). Desire Pictures managed to get another $5.9 million for their teen comedy. Green Arrow fell 48% to gross another $5.8 million, while Showstopper dropped 42% to earn $5.7 million.
And with the harsh drops in recent weeks showing no mercy, Exit Productions expansion of One Size Fits All into 1,500 theatres didn’t do as much good as the company probably hoped for. The film still did, however, have the lightest drop of the week, falling only 26.6% to earn another $2 million.

The spreadsheet has been updated, but I'm still not sure how to make the correct link. So when the admin sees this, can they please post the proper URL to view the spreadsheet?

pretty mediocre numbers....but Lady Death performed to expectations....we were hoping for an opening in the teens, but this is by no means a disappointment. Hopefully, the thriller factor and the great reviews will help drive some word of mouth through the upcoming weeks.

That's a big drop for Beach Boys. It certainly isn't surprising though. Teen comedies fall hard in their second weekend. Hopefully some legs will kick in next weekend. It looks like we should be able to make a little profit off the film though, in the end.

I'll be honest, I had my eye on Battle of Buck Creek...I have a western coming in September (The Vengeful, in theaters September 8, be there), so I'm happy to see a decent opening for it...gives me some hope for my western...they do tend to do well if they find the right audience...
